The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) recently announced the 2021 Best in American Living Award (BALA) winners at the International Builders’ Show, naming The Nicholas, an Edwards Urban Community professionally managed by Drucker + Falk, among the year’s best.
The Nicholas, offering 230 luxury apartment homes, took home Platinum for the “Best Multifamily Development Four to Seven Stories – for Rent,” as well as “Best in Region – Midwest.” Transforming a parking lot into a vibrant, mixed-use community that has added new life to the urban core, this Downtown Columbus community impressed judges with its strategic development, mix of architectural styles, and addition of fresh details and character to the area.
Several teams came together to ensure the community’s developer, Edwards Urban, philanthropic vision of reinvigorating downtown Columbus came true. KEPHART, the architectural firm; Urban Five the builder; MKSK the community’s Landscape Architect / Designer; and Studio 4D the Interior Designer created a multifamily community that has been long-praised by its residents and now recognized nationally by reputable organizations like BALA.
In its 38th year, BALA recognizes outstanding achievement by builders and design professionals in all sectors of the residential housing industry including single-family production, custom, multifamily, affordable, remodeling, community, and interiors.
